A welcoming note from the Director

Welcome! Bienvenidos! Benvenuti!

It is my pleasure to introduce you to L'Atelier School. This website offers itself as a place for encounter, communication and exchange. I wish that we will be able to transmit the essence of the school through this media and enter in dialogue with you. L'Atelier is a warm school, where relationships are the base for the educational project. We like to think about a new and innovative style of school where the partnership between family and school invites for a renewed image of the child, of the teacher and its role, of the family and its participation, and of the school as a place of culture where each one's identity can be discovered and renewed.

L’Atelier was originally conceived as an art workshop for children. The word atelier, which derives from the French language, means work room or artist studio. Historically ateliers served not only as a place where seamstress, carpenters, painters, sculptors and other artists could create their artwork, but also as a place where people could spend time thinking and getting inspired.

In 1997 we built our first Campus in South Miami with two classrooms ( the Nido, and the 3's,4's &5's), a Plaza, an Atelier, a Water lab, a Kitchen and an office. In 2004 we opened a classroom for infants. In that way we reached our full capacity of 75 families. We offer full and part time programs fro children 3 months to 5 years old.

Since year 2000 L'Atelier developed a strong collaboration with the educators from Reggio Emilia, Italy. Amelia Gambetti is our consultant and visits the school once or twice a year. More
